The Death of Productivity

Last night, as I was brushing my teeth and shampooing my hair at the same time, I stopped and realized how silly I was being. This is an extreme (and embarrassing) example of multi-tasking, but since reading Tim Ferriss’ 4-Hour Work Week, the practice has been one I am trying to avoid. Easier said than done.

“Wait, multi-tasking is a bad thing?”

When multi-tasking, I cannot put forth an elite focus to the task at hand. In the offense above, for instance, I unknowingly ignore a quadrant in my mouth, I don’t get a great head-wash with only one hand, and I am vulnerable to shampoo dripping in to my mouth – tragic.

We all have so many "to do's", but killing two birds with one stone often times isn't the answer. Prospectively, it is my goal to uni-task, which allows for conscious breath and greater attention to detail, in turn creating an enhanced true efficiency.
